Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment (ACLSA) is a free assessment that the Georgia's ILP has adopted as a standard part of case planning. Youth will have their Independent Living Strengths and Needs assessed through the appropriate Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment (ACLSA).
ASSESSSMENT REQUIREMENTS
- ILP eligible youth who turn ages 14, 16 & 17 (and a half) in foster care, are required to take the ACLSA. The foster care case manger with the assistance of the IL Coordinator will base youth's Written Transitional Independent Living Plan (WTLP) on the results of the assessment.
- The ACLSA can be taken in little time, has simple instructions & provides an immediate individual report of life skills for youth.
- The ACLSA is designed to be taken by both the youth and the foster provider or another adult who has a relationship with the youth, which will provide a more comprehensive view of the youth's needs.
- Click here for the directions on completing the ACLSA for the State of Georgia
WHAT IS A WTLP?
Written Transitional Living Plan (WTLP) is developed by and with the youth when turning 14 years old (and every six moths thereafter), which has individualized goals that are specific to the youth's strengths and needs.
MORE INFORMATION
The Casey Foster Family web site also offers a fantastic resource for developing a case plan from the results & a great resource for foster parents looking for ideas to develop specific life skills. Go directly to their site at caseylifeskills.org.
